Ian Patrick est un Américain à Paris, naturalisé Français.
Né à Salzbourg, Autriche, de parents américains, il les suit dans l’Europe des années cinquante-soixante.
De retour aux Etats-Unis, il fait ses études à l’Art Center College of Design de Los Angeles, puis va tenter sa chance dans la « Big Apple », où il immortalise des artistes comme Andy Warhol et Bob Marley, pour le compte de Rolling Stone, Esquire ou encore le New York Times Magazine. En 1979, il découvre Paris et installe son studio sur le canal Saint-Martin.
C’est en accompagnant son père aux commémorations du débarquement qu’il réalise la portée de cet évènement historique majeur, et décide d’y consacrer une partie de son œuvre.
Il s’est aussi attaché à des sujets comme le cirque Archaos (Editions Albin Michel), les cow-boys de rodéos, et les nus en « Lévitation, entre autres.

After graduating fron Art Center College of Design , Los Angeles, he decided to take his chance in the « Big Apple », where he immortalized artists like Andy Warhol or Bob Marley for Rolling Stone, Esquire and the New York Time Magazine. In 1979, he discovered Paris, and establishes his studio on the canal Saint-Martin.
While accompanying his father William on a visit to Normandy, he discovered his Dad had been there during the war and realized the scope of this very important historical battle. It was the beginning of a long adventure. Every year from 1984 to 2008, Ian has been going to Normandy to photograh the D-Day ceremonies and the last eye witness of living history. Other photograph projects have been a book on the circus Archaos, rodeo cow-boys, and à series of underwater nudes called « Levitaion ».
